I’m getting booted when guesting and when I get back to the Desktop a window comes up over the tray and it’s announced that “Your Internet connection is now ready” Stop laughing Splash
So it looks as if my connection drops
But if I host I don’t have this problem maybe, on the few occasions when I’ve hosted it’s been ok
Any way to get a handle on this one please chaps? I’ve checked that my router setup for broadband is ‘Always On’ - there’s ‘Manual Connect’ (with a time to set to stay alive - I’ve tried manually connecting with a timeout of three hours but this causes even worse trouble)
So how to get info on which end is dropping that’s the thing please - are there connection logfiles I can check or anything that will say “Your end dropped” or “ISP end dropped you” - something like that?
Other games I can play for hours with no connection problems at all - wait - I do get ‘There’s a problem with your connection’ in BF2 but it usually only pauses for a few seconds and then all is ok again. Nothing surprising about that though is my thinking, it’s BF2 - that could be caused by anything
Is there anything in conf.ini or on my client side setup files that could cause my connection to drop? I’ve got a NetMeter but no idea how to use it for connection goodness analysis
I’m thinking that if I’m booted for bad ping- is it caused by a disco at my end: or am I being booted unwisely by host and this booting makes the Desktop “Connected” message come up because I’m rejoining Hyperlobby. Chicken and egg yes. As usual

It looks like Bulldog is given you disco’s. Momentarily dropping your connection. Enough to get you booted and to bring up the reconnected dialogue. Hyperlobby will not bring up a box stating “Your Internet connection is now ready”.
TS might help though, it has a log in its main directory. This should tell you if you’ve lost connection and how many times.
I’d chase up Bulldog and get them to check your line, also http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks will help you. Test your DSL and followup any recommendations. There’s an app there called DR TCP (or similar) that will help you tweak your connect for max stability.
Good luck!
23-07-05 00:41:38,852,WARNING,All,procedure TDICallBack.execute,“The operation had no effect.” or “The device buffer overflowed and some input was lost.” or “The device exists but is not currently attached.” or “The change in device properties had no effect.”
Ta Brigstock!
About twelve messages like that over five hours - but I wasn’t using TS at that time…
I wonder how to tease apart whether the problem is at my end first, before contacting the elusive Bulldog
I’ve done the tweaks and also I’ve used that DR utility to set up my broadband line
I need that break-the-problem-down thing I think, to see for sure somehow which end is dropping
For example I was thinking that a timeout at my end would give the same symptoms?
Thanks mate will keep studying and I’ll do what you recommend. Apart from the contacting Bulldog I think he was the first mammal in space. Currently on the dark side of the moon yes I try not to be too hard on them beacuse they are a blow for freedom from BT’s hegemony/monopoly
Ah wait though - no discos in other online games. Pauses but that’s normal No sign of that “Connected” warning there…
Thinking aloud not arguing!
Ah yes you’re right I should revisit the DR for sure and slacken things off yep ta mate - I was fiddling I bet. As you do. Yes you do you fibber
Ah yes 2: other stuff not working has made me lose focus on the connection quality, I was naturally blaming Majik until Alfie kicked me too lol - quite right a fresh visit’s in order to all those settings
