Vista has DX10 natively, cut out the middleman
The big idea about DX10 Red is that when programs are written with DX10 as the target there is a whole level of redundancy taken out of the picture. Programs do not need to keep asking Windows to get involved as much so there’s less overhead, less time wasted in operating system calls. Like Glide was for 3dfx, DX10 is ‘closer to the metal’
