Eagle Dynamics Loyalty Program

Following a lengthy client satisfaction review of our existing Bonus Program, we are delighted to announce the new DCS World Loyalty Program. This will replace the Bonus Program and will provide a simpler way to earn rewards and more freedom to use them!

ED Miles are similar in many ways to airline miles and can be earned/awarded and used as follows:

  • Regardless if a product has just been released, is already on sale or in pre-purchase, you will always earn ED Miles on the price you paid for the purchase. For each purchase, you will earn 10% of the Purchase Price in ED Miles. As an example: if you purchase something for USD 29.99 you will be awarded 2990 ED Miles worth USD 2.99 on the DCS World e-Shop.
  • You can use ED Miles to purchase any product participating in the program, regardless if they are just released, already on sale, or as a pre-purchase!
  • There is no limit on the number of ED Miles you can use for a purchase. If you have enough ED Miles, you can even pay for an entire product just using ED Miles.
  • ED Miles earned are valid for three calendar years from the time of your last DCS World e-Shop purchase.
  • Existing Bonus points will expire in 2019 on a date to be confirmed.

Note that ED Miles cannot be redeemed for cash or any other conversion, and a list of 3rd parties participating in the program will be provided at launch.

New pre-launch video

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a two-crew, variable geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The F-14 was the US Navy’s frontline fighter from the 1970s until the mid-2000s. Over the course of its long service life it also became the US Navy’s premier precision ground-attack platform and lone airborne reconnaissance asset.

Outstanding features of the aircraft are the swing-wing configuration, crew of two, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the powerful AIM-54 Phoenix air to air missile while the LANTIRN pod allows the ability to carry out precision ground strikes using laser guided bombs. The F-14 Tomcat was present during many pivotal historic moments such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert storm in Iraq, the conflict in Yugoslavia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was also immortalized in the iconic motion picture, Top Gun, and starred in several other feature films including The Final Countdown, Executive Decision, and others.

DCS: Christen Eagle II Available on Steam

The Christen Eagle II by Magnitude 3 LLC is now available on Steam.

The Christen Eagle II, which later became the Aviat Eagle II in the mid-1990s, is an aerobatic biplane aircraft that has been produced in the United States since February 1977.

Designed by Frank Christensen, a veteran WW2 P-51D pilot and aerobatic competitor, it was originally built to compete with the Pitts Special. You’ll find that the Eagle is hard to beat in terms of flying excitement and adventure, and yet the ease of control allows even average pilots to feel like masters of aerobatics.

Dare to fly like a true eagle, whether you are learning to fly, or you are an experienced pilot. Inside this powerful aerobatic beauty, you can enjoy solo aerobatics, do tight formation flying, graze the landscape sightseeing, or speed race down the track. You can even teach other people to fly. The smoke system allows you to visualize your stunts for yourself and other viewers. To extend the Eagle’s prowess in DCS, we implemented an internal and external light system which will keep you safe day and night, and a simple autopilot which will allow you to grab your favorite drink while your aircraft safely levels and awaits your return.

Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team

DCS: Fw 190 A8 First flights

We would like to share some exciting news on the progress of the Fw 190 A8 for DCS World. As we approach the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the Fw 190 back in the spring of 1939, the module for DCS World has taken its own first flight internally. As you can see in the included screenshots, while still early, progress is moving along at a good pace. With this new module comes some new features, such as the new fan-assisted air cooling model introduced to the oil cooling and engine air intake system.

Starting from the A8 oil cooler, the system will hold true with our current engineering approach and use the same math for radiators which has become much more efficient in compiling (saving time and minimizing mistake probability) as well as adding new opportunities for integration with the new Damage Model. Because of this it will handle punctures and over-heating correctly and is a much more robust system regarding any weird combination of input parameters. Eventually, this new system will replace the old one in all WWII aircraft.

\ 238x134 \ 238x134 \ 238x134

The Fw 190 was designed by engineer and Test pilot Kurt Tank. The team he assembled to create this new fighter from the outset wanted a design with a much different approach than what was taken for the Bf 109. The design was to be a smaller tougher and easier to maintain. Inspired by a captured I-16 Rata, which was able to out turn the faster Bf 109, the Germans could see the benefit of the shorter wings and smaller design, wrapped around a powerful radial engine.

The A8 variant was the largest produced version of the Fw 190 and should provide an excellent opponent to the current plane set in DCS World, especially the Spitfire IX. Enjoy this sneak peek at the progress on this module, and stay tuned for more news in the not so distant future.

Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team

Free Maps and Assets Pack for Dedicated Servers

With the release of the dedicated server, the most requested item from clients has been that dedicated servers no longer provide opportunity to purchase maps and asset packs to host missions. We have been listening, and new feature will be brought to you this next week along with the 10th April Open Beta! Dedicated servers with “no-render” option activated will be able to host all DCS World maps and asset packs for free! We see DCS World Online as a critical feature of DCS World to move forward, and the ability to run interesting and varied mission servers is a great thing for you, clients, and us.

In addition, we will be working on further ways to improve and expand the DCS World online experience.

Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team

Maybe with the 190A8 we will have more equal dogfights over the skies with Ponies and Spitfires!

Yes, I hope that will be the case.

A question… The flight model of the DCS WWII planes is the same of the beginning?

I’m not sure I understand your question.
I think all flight models of all WW2 planes have been tweaked since they where first released. I’m not sure how big the changes have been for all models, but for the Spitfire at least some parts of it have received fairly noticeable changes (mostly when it comes to take-off and landing as I remember it).
Some planes have a limit to how much control input is possible at high speeds (109) and others don’t have it so you can rip your wings efficiently if you’re not careful (Spitfire).

What they are said to be working on is improved damage modeling, that I have high hopes for.
And hopefully they will work on AI as well so they no longer can pull impossible maneuvers etc.

Thank You Mikke
Having fly for years in IL 2 with both axis and allied, ( and never having flew with the real WWII planes…), I always ask to myself what is the best flying model for each plane…
My only references about flying, are about two hundred hours of flying as private pilot, a third of them, making acrobatics with the CAP10.
I know nothing about the way a developer build a FM, so, in this case, I can only compare the flying behaviour of the fighter, with all i read about them…
The different FM between IL 2 and DCS are very big, but obviously, if I’m here, it’s because the DCS Flying Mode is closest to the feelings I had with real planes.
Many Spitfires, Mustangs, Bf 109, Me 262, etc. etc. are inl flying condiction…
So I hope that developers are always working on the FM, even in collaboration with the owners and pilots of these planes…
About the i09s, I read this very interesting article…

Have a good day

The 190 A, below 6000 meters, was almost good as Spits and Mustangs …
Be sure that after the first losses, the axis boys will return to Dora and K…:upside_down_face:

@ Hayate. Thanks for the link to the test pilot’s article. The 109G seems like an american muscle car on the ground ie lots of power and little control and a swiss watch in the air ie 1mm of stick gives 1mm of roll. Not sure that these features are faithfully reproduced in sims ! I don’t have the DCS 109 and the 109’s in IL2 seem pretty docile compared with this pilot’s description.

True!
IL 2 planes are built mainly for people that never flew with real aircraft, ( or a real tail wheel plane )
Few person would spend hours only to learn takeoff and landing maneuvers, so, the politic of IL 2, is to offer easy planes to fly… ( The IL 2 FW190 Dora performances are close to be ridiculous )…
With DCS 109, I have to do almost the same things we read on the article… Or closest to it
P.S.
A good way for me to take off and landing, is to realize that in front of me there is a heavy mass of iron, that wants to go anywhere except where I want

Hai idea di quando esce?

Two weeks… Scherzo, era il tempo medio indicato dal Team Fusion per le patch… In giorni gioviani, però!
