In their Friday newsletter Eagle Dynamics suggested some good sources for training videos!
YouTube as a DCS World Training Tool
DCS World modules can be challenging to learn but rewarding to master. Despite most DCS World modules including complete documentation and interactive training missions, you sometimes need a little bit more help. Seeing a video demonstration can be very helpful when you are new to a module. YouTube is a great learning tool where you can find tutorials to meet your needs. These range from very structures and serious to lighter videos with more fun and humor. To help you get you started, let’s go over some of the best of the best out there, but this is not 100% inclusive of all the great DCS World videos out there. We greatly appreciate all the wonderful channels and we deeply thank you for your support! On most Tuesdays, we also provide a Tuesday Training post on our Facebook pagethat lists many of the great offerings available.
When you want structured, accurate systems tutorials, check out RedKite, his recent videos on F/A-18C are outstanding with great levels of detail and accuracy. His videos are a huge asset to understand and master the intricacies of our modern aircraft.
The Grim Reapers are unequalled in the volume and scope of videos they offer. They cover almost every aspect of a module, from controls instruction to online matches and everything in between. Their videos highlight the fun of flying in a squadron and exploring all corners of DCS World.
Jabbers makes great content and provides a great balance between the styles of RedKite and the Grim Reapers. His videos on carrier landings are particularly well done. He also has some great looks at hardware related to DCS World.
Spudknocker is also a great choice for combining detailed aircraft instruction with entertainment mission videos.
Another good channel is that of Growling Sidewinder where he has a focus on tactics and mission reviews. It’s a great visit to tune your mission tactics.
We’d suggest sending the kids out for ice cream or putting on your headphones for the more adult-oriented videos from Crash Laobi. He is famous for his 1-minute tutorials and hilarious commentary that could make even a sailor blush. Don’t kid yourself though, behind the salty exterior are some best-crafted tutorial videos.
104th Maverick, Rakuzard, GrmlZGaming, MagzTV, ralfidude and pickinthatbanjo all make outstanding content that further expand on the great DCS World video content available.
There are many more out there, not to mention content creators and Twitch Streamers. Please check them out, subscribe to them, and let them know you appreciate their efforts! They are part of what makes DCS World so great!
