Hi all,
I’m hoping we can go back to making DCS Thursdays a thing again - at least for those that are interested. We’re about to get to the unified install (so no more multiple installs of three versions!) this will make flying together a lot easier. What I intend to do in most, if not all, of the training missions that I put together is to include the Su-25T. This is the free aircraft that comes with DCS World itself. It is actually a very capable close support aircraft. Inlcuding this will give everyone the chance to fly along with us. It is not a fully clickable aircraft and it is only of a Flaming Cliffs 3 standard, however this is on a par with IL2 BoX and Cliffs, so not like it is something simple - it still requires some learning and it is a good introduction to DCS.
The main thing is that people will able to come along with those of us that have adopted the Harrier, and you should be able to keep up and take part in the missions!
We currently have four Harrier Pilots (that I am aware of)

I’m currently making missions in both the Georgia and Normandy maps. Anything that I put together in the NTTR map is generally for me to do on my own.
As an aside I have been including the AJS-37 Viggen in all of the missions too, as I am aware that there are a couple of us that have the Viggen
Hopefully see some more of you online in DCS soon!
Ok, well those that would like to do a little more than WW2, on occasion, can join me on a Thursday night. I only have Monday, Thursday and Sunday to touch my PC so I’m not flush with options. I’m happy to do DCS as WW2, but it seemed you all gave up on that. So, seeing as there are four of us that have the Harrier and we’re all keen to learn how to do more with it, I thought I would try to be inclusive and give an option for the others that would like to find out more. I also know that Mikke likes flying the Viggen so I’ve tried to make sure he can join in too.
If there is something WW2 planned for a Thursday night then that would take precedence, but there isn’t (at the moment). so I didn’t see it being a problem. I apologise if it is.
I also only have time (barely) to fly mondays and thursdays, and I don’t have enough interest in BoX to spend my limited time to get into it and CoD don’t seem to get the revival I had hoped for with the new version, so my options it pretty much flying alone in DCS or if I’m lucky to fly DCS with someone else. And I rather fly jets with someone then alone. If alone I’ll probably fly the Spit the most, but it will be a mix.
I generally have the Mirage in, but I can add the F-5 too. I do enjoy both! I just tend to get distracted when there is a long list of planes to choose from! Ha!
At the minute…all three, but by the end of January the unified version will be out, so that won’t be an issue for much longer. Performance in 2.2 has improved in VR, but I didn’t have a problem with it before.
Lucky you, it was bloody awful over Normandy and this was offline. It was especially annoying because the other maps were better and BOX was silky compared.
Have they improved the damage graphics yet, it reminds of an 90’s game.
Good fun in the Harrier last night doing night ops, having the FLIR working on the Hud and NVG’s was a blast, don’t know if I could fly a long mission with it though, next task air to air refuelling in the dark, should be fun considering how hard it is in broad daylight
I was impressed when I finally got the FLIR to work. I’d only seen it in the videos it’s really good. If we can get the buddy lasing to work then we’re about set for precision hits too. I hope the link I sent through last night may shed some light on things and we can get things moving.
I wonder whether the JTAC got shot and that’s why it wasn’t responding. It shouldn’t have been, as it is sent to inviisble and immortal, but I think that can depend on the order of the Advanced Waypoint options. I’ll keep playing with it, because it’s annoying me!
I’ve still not cracked daylight in-flight refuelling, night time will be a massive challenge (especially seeing as the tanker won’t get off the ground at the moment!!!)
Your more than welcome Os… your 5 hours behind us, Sunday afternoon would suit you cos some of us fly on a Sunday night, unless you lucky enough to be retired:cool:… then you can join anytime:rolleyes:
