It’s not ticket science and even easier than the IL2 dances we used to do.
Glad someone came up with the answer, I was all set to do a utube video showing the whole process through the medium of dance.
The resulting product would almost certainly have been unpleasant…

Some of the guys over at 51 have been pressuring me for some time. I won’t be mentioning any names…Walty 
BTW, The expression “dance” was a slang word I first saw when I returned to Falcon 4.0. I that time I already flew the “Enemy Engage” series Comanche Hokum (EECH) and Apache Havok (EEAH). The word dance ran especially true then, as the game had to be started between some of the patches in order to work. One mis-step in the “dance” and the game was ruined. That was fun in a wicked sort of way :rolleyes:
I shelved the game before the first mod. I tried modding it when the first good mod came but never got the game to work.
After that I never came back to it. So it is the non-steam part which I need help to.
So… for what I can remember from my patches.
From the last clean Steam version you have to patch firstly to TF 3.0 then fix it at minipatch 3.01.
Next one will be 4.0 then 4.3
The last one is 4.312
After each patch it’s adviced to clear the cache folder: users/user’s name/documents/1c soft club/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD/ and launch the game patched just to see if launcher doesn’t crash.

The patching is a nightmare. Haven’t they learned from the past.
How about one guide:
- Install game from Steam and all updates
- Disable steam
- Install patch

And after installing the Steam version I really recommend running the game. I didn’t and just installed the patches, and get the “setting up the game for the first time” every time I start it. Really considering reinstalling it from the beginning again…
