As much as we all wan’t the thread Olegs BOB to be the most visited and most posted forum I think it is time to put things were they belong.

The CoD mission editor is very simple to use, it’s the same editor (exactly the same, not just similar) but more streamlined. Flights are much easier to set up
Ok mate I’ll do that tomorrow. Maybe a Stukas-attacking-shipping track/mission, will check out the triggers and wotnot
Actually now I’m excited by the thought of setting up an active airbase in there. The airfields are rather skeletal like in RoF, but there are many airfield objects in the editor (there must be, I see them in missions)
We can equip an airfield and use it as our base for training operations while we get familiar with the planes
Which airfield shall we pick. Ok Biggin Hill it is.
We’re going to need an Austin Seven object and a pub object. And a decorative pub sign object for the Red Lion object
Bring the peeler back on completing 14 cwt or Redcaps
Not really an issue, the purpose of it is to make a track with quite a lot happening at the same time that will be a real test of the computer, not to have a training mission or a mission to actually fly in!
I will probably get around to installing CoD tonight, guess what I’ll be doing this weekend.
After having turned down almost all settings to lowest the game was (barely) playable, and ground looked like shit. Then I read that enabling FSAA ingame had a big impact at least on ATI cards, so I disabled it (and also turned some other settings up a notch), and voilá, I got much better (but still not great) fps, 25-50 fps over sea, mostly in the 25-30 region.
I also noticed that enabling the rearview mirror stole some fps, 5-8fps I would say, and as it’s not working correctly for me, I mostly get a distorted picture or nothing in it, I will keep it off until the next patch at least.
There is a third party patch that is getting great reviews over at SimHq and Ic, people claim it doubles frame rates and sorts out the stutters. They are now flying over land with the detail up and making the sim playable.
Good work on the track Ming, I got average around 27 fps, max 47, min 3, but it felt, hmm, choppy. Might be the well known micro-stutters.
And frankly, graphics over land is shit with the settings I have now.
Just did m8 and nothing broken so far, only had a quick flight with the nossao and lowtex setting but going to try more in a minute with the nomipmaps.
I also set my NV graphics to default settings and rebooted (except Vsync On + triple buffer) Also updated to the latest TIR software.
Turned CEM off for now as this can cause stutters and just isn’t right for the Spit yet (Neg G modelled wrong).
Results so far are very good, the controls are much more responsive and it feels generally quicker. Getting very low over land and it stutters again but higher up it doesn’t. (will try nomipmaps to see if that helps) At height over dover it felt the same speed as Il2 just tons better looking. I haven’t tried looking at fps yet but will. 1920x1080, models and effects high, low forest/buildings rest on medium with 2xAA in game.
Try it out mate, especially with the 580 with its more vram than my 570.
EDIT ~ just tested and get 45-50 fps now and loads smoother over land, playable for my medium spec PC. Still the odd stutter, but very low 100 feet and its slows down.
But the overlying feeling is that this should be fixed at this stage of product development rather than in the community prevents me from giving this a go. They need to fix this, not us.
I did give it a go, but when it screwed up my rear mirror I reversed the modifications. As a mod it is far from userfriendly. Just as Keets, I think this should be fixed by the developers.
They are a small team so any help is good imho. With the amount of stuff that needs doing, hopefully this give some pointers to the devs on one of the fixes needed.
At last I found myself thinking about the flying rather than the performance.
I managed to turn on everything to max and yes it was 25 fps but it looked stunning and the promise of flying nirvana. Do you remember when we switched perfect on, same thought of how I’m going to afford the upgrade
Tried buying the English DVD version this week, from the UBI shop, payment via paypal went through successfully, then this morning i received notification that UBI are declining the transaction and have canceled my order.
Refusing to sell the game could be a bit of a problem.
