CLOD Woes

Well i got CLOD working yesterday, and today it has stopped

So what happened another game i was installing installed Dx and that has caused CLOD to stop.

Well two system restores later and Dx ran as administrator from the CLOD disk have not rectified my issue.

So i am pretty sure that all my woes have and are Dx related, what is my best way around this now, the obvious was to install Dx on the disk but that aint done diddly.

Go to microsofts website and download the latest redist sdk for directx and install that, you should be able to do a search for it. If you are having trouble let me know.

Now on my third attempt at buying the english version from the UBI shop.

First attempt: payment accepted, funds transferred, two days later, payment refunded.

Second attempt: payment accepted, funds transferred, email confirming acceptance recieved, email conformation that the order would be dispatched shortly, two days later, payment refunded.

Its not like i am using my Bank of Turkmenistan Visa card, this is just paypal.

Off to the ubi forums i guess.

Sporran

Why don’t you just get it from Steam?

I got the disc from UBI but since it goes into Steam I now have a colourful Beer mat.

Cheers :ani_beer:

Splash

Combination of reasons Splash, BT are upgrading the infrastructure round here atm, putting in cable.

Leaving my net access sporadic and with so many dropped packets its not funny, fine for text but not much else ( its why i have not been flying the last couple of weeks )

The other reason is … i like physical media and it will look cool sitting on the shelf with all the other IL2 stuff ive bought over the years.

I know i am going to have to use Steam anyway,

Sporran, If you’ve b/w problems, am happy to download and post you a DVD if you purchase on steam. You can then copy over your steamapps folder and the game will be there.

was this the right one http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3b170b25-abab-4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d

cos that one did not work :frowning:

Yes, that’s the right one mate. What did the game install when it worked ok?

Seems we are cursed. When I try to start CoD now I get a windows error message, “Launcher failed” or something like that, then the loading stops.

Yes, I’m very fed up with the Steam crap that the game is attached to, is it possible to start CoD without getting close to Steam?

Running the checker within Steam to see if anything was damaged in the install found three missing/damaged files. Getting them back restored the game to running conditions.

The patch have really improved performance for me. With the settings I had used previously I now get 50+ fps over sea, but land still looked like shit. I turned up the graphics settings and lookes improved quite a lot while still far from perfect, but framerate of course went down, but still playable (but not enjoyable). Some more tinkering might actually make it enjoyable when flying over land as well. Else I will stick to flying dogfights over the sea. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m still not getting along with the way TIR works for me, it’s almost like it’s using the mouse simulation method because the zero keeps changing and it moves around quite unpredictably.

Meako, check out the posts in this thread fro

It talks about .NET issues/not installed properly after another application install causing launch issues. There’s a link to a checker to check your .NET install.
