Who left those huge lumps of coal on the beach?!!!

Newcastle

Menden has been on a mission then?
Pics look good btw. But I’m waiting on the Posty to drop BF2 through my door next week.

I wonder if they will actually model ballistics this time around. CoD kind of died for me when I realized I never hit moving targets, it’s because you shouldn’t lead in CoD, the bullet hits where the sight is, laserbeams… :frowning:

A bigger and better (WW2) CoD is what we’re all waiting for I think Mikke. Too much good stuff in there to be too realistic about our expectations

Same with BF2. There’s realism in some places in there - realism is in the mind mostly. No bullet-drop wouldn’t worry me in the slightest, not in a fast-moving team game of close-in fighting. Snipers won’t like it no but I don’t care about snipers I hate em. With a vengeance. Unless they’re on my team of course. Then they are sharp-shooting stars

Operation Flashpoint still rules, nothing else have bettered it of what I’ve tried.
The original BF was not a bit interesting for me, CoD is quite fun, for a while, but not like OPF.

I’ve seen rumors of a midterm update of OPF with updated graphics and physics modeling, hopefully not to far away (though they will probably have time to announce a CoD2b or something before it’s out).

Ah well…

From the BF2 forum at SimHQ Mikke

As far as the tanks and armored vehicles are concerned, I can’t really discern what ammunition types they are supposed to represent: Not really sabot penetrators, nor HE-frag, nor HESH.

The main load seems to be a generic, underrated HEAT type round- one that cannot even kill helicopters unless their hit points have already been withered down. Even non-penetrating hits by .50 cal ammunition could initiate spalling inside some of these vehicles, promoting extensive damage and injuries, but hit point systems don’t really allow for that.

Ballistics are suited for a game that was built for infantry combat- real life tank guns and autocannons would easily send rounds across these small distances, but here you have to begin adding elevation to compensate for bullet drop after only a few meters. It’s still fun though
This guy probably has only the demo, the maps in the full version are bloody gigantic. Hard work for heavy assault support gunners - running miles sometimes

I saw an article in PC Gamer about the next Op Flashpoint.

Bohemia interactive have lost the rights to the name Operation Flashpoint after their split with Codemasters apparently but they are releasing 2 new titles it seems,

The first is going to be titled “Armed Assault” which will be taking OFP and updating the gfx engine with a brand new setting and storyline.

The game takes a slightly different role though, more of an RPG apparently, it says in the magazine “Think Morrowind in fatigues”.

“It will apparently be one giant, open ended environment which we’ll be free to roam, guided only by a main objective and a series of secondary, personal objectives pursued as we see fit.”

sounds good

ETA = 2006
