Book recommendation: ‘Notes of a Sniper’ by Vassili Zaitsev
Not so easy to get hold of (only 2 used copies on Amazon). These guys eventually got it, took a while though as they had just run out of stock:
Excellent book upon which the film ‘Enemy at the Gates’ was based. Interesting to read and see where the inaccuracies of the film were (in the film Zaitsev was portrayed as uneducated, in fact he was an accountant in the Navy!).
Believed to contain Russian propaganda (originally published in the 40’s) but an excellent and gritty read none the less.
