Some time ago I got a mail from a Sylvia Endacott about 331’s station on Bognor A.L.G. Airfield. I asked Sylvia to post about it in O-club, but don’t think she did. Anyway, when looking at http://www.worldwar2exraf.co.uk that Painter gave the link to I found a post about her research again, so I was reminded about it. That post is below:
Sylvia Endacott is researching Bognor A.L.G. Airfiled during its time as an RAF station during WWII. Sylvia is seeking any information, photo’s etc., from anyone who was stationed there during WWII. The Squadrons involved were 331 and 332 Squadrons, who were Norwegians, 19 Squadron, 66 Squadron, 602 Squadron and also an American Squadron. Sylvia does have maps etc., but would welcome any other information, documents etc.
If any one can assist Sylvia will be very grateful - They are planning a display of information during the Festival of Local History in Bognor Regis on June 19th. and would welcome any assistance.
Sylvia can be contacted at the email address below: sylviaendacott02@tiscali.co.uk
I thought the notice on what squadrons was based at the field was kind of interesting.
From her mail to me:
My interest is that I am researching the Bognor Advanced Landing Ground in West Sussex, which was open from 1943 to 1944.
I have obtained information on all the Squadrons and their Operational Logs.
I am now seeking information on pilots anyone who used the airfield, pictures, log books, snippets of information etc.
I am compiling a book that will be published in October/November 2005 and would welcome any assistance.
The squadrons who used the airfield included:-
19 – 122 – 602 – 66 – 83 Support Group – 331 and 332 – 1310 flight and 4 O.ADU
If you look at my website on www.bognor-local-history.co.uk under articles you will find a page on the history – so far, it has changed and increased since that was placed on the site.
The e-mail she sent that from was different from above, so if you have info for her and the above adress doesn’t work, let me know, I also have the phone number (I think).
