Black Cross Red Star

Can anyone name a book that is as informative as the BCRS series of books but written about the Pacific war?

I am already looking at ‘Bloody Shambles’ series. The Bloody shambles books seem to be a little more personal, and I have plenty of personal accounts, I’m really after the historical information such as the units involved in each campaign, the equipment etc etc.

Thanks all

Pacific or CBI? I have a good book somewhere on the naval / island actions (US-centric), not so much on the other.

Not a history, but if you see a book called Quartered Safe Out Here by George MacDonald Fraiser, it’s one of the best autobiogrpahies I’ve ever read. He served in Burma in '45

Fire in the Sky is a good read about the air war in the SW Pacific but it won’t have the sort of info I think you’re looking for. I’m stumped to recommend a book for you, but as a sugestion, grab any of the Osprey books about the Pacific campaigns and take a look at the bibliography, that should throw up some avenues of investigation for you.

@Marsh - what title is it you refer to? I like the PTO a lot and with Xmas approaching I’m leaving subtle hints around for my wife and kids to find!

Cheers,
