ATI graphic issues with CoD?

Just read over at ATAG that ATI cards are showing banding on the horizon and broken rivers, Simon and any other ATI flyer here having this? Is this a driver issue?

Just been looking at the “new” 280X which are effectively a 7970.

Cheers

Interesting that you should bring this up Swoop.

Yesterday, I had a harlequin patterned Spitfire, along with a crazy looking grass texture for a while. Once I got airborne everything was fine.

At first I thought it was an overheated graphics card, but my temps were fine (40degC).

Not that I’ve noticed, Matt. All seems to be running nicely. I’m on the latest official drivers.
Next time I’m up, I’ll grab a screenie for you to check.

I have the flickering borders, where landscape LOD comes in using my AMD-card. In some situations its more visible than in others.

Thanks chaps, Simon if I remember you have a 7950, so similar to the “new” 280x cards, plus I’ve seen 92’s blog without noticing any probs. Interesting some people have reported lines on the horizon and broken rivers, wonder if it’s different cards or old drivers.

The 280x has 3gig of memory and almost as fast as a 780 at half the price, plus I like Nvidia having some competiton so really wanted to go with the red team this time. Both are dropped their prices already. The new 290 to be unveiled any day is meant to be close to the Titan speeds and around the £350 mark. Titan is £800+

But if Cod has issues with ATI I’ll be going green and hanging in for a 780 to drop down once the new Ti version comes out soon.

Paf and Baz, what cards do you have?

Yes that’s right. It’s a 3GB version. Beware the pics on the blog are pre-patch with SweetFX running. Post patch and no SweetFX I’ve noticed some shimmering, similar to a lack of AF. I’ll check later.

£800 for a gfx card, I’d never get that under the radar.

Ive got the HD6870.

I have an ATI HD7750 1GB Swoop.

I do get “stripes” (for the lack of a better word) on the sea sometimes. Pre-4 patch I did get banding on the sky, that is all gone now and looking really good. I think the lines-in-the-sea issue have become less noticeable post patch as well. This on an old 5870, I should probably start looking for a replacement, hardware isn’t 100% stable (BSOD), not sure if it’s a graphic card issue or something else, but since I got better cooling for the CPU and changed memory I don’t get them as often, but still happens.

Thanks all.

Well the new ATI 290 has come out and looks to on par and better than the 780 and about 80+ quid cheaper. I’ve got mixed results from a similar thread over at ATAG, so as the price war develops I’ll sit tight and wait till we have some Clod owners of the new cards with better retro cooling. The 780 Ti is also due out very soon which will push the 780’s price even lower hopefully.
