Ming

Wow thanks Ming I want it!

Yup, really looking forward to it beeing released here, after the czech and germans have done a proper beta test of it of course!

Where is the first german computer store? Gronau?

Some links and helpful things Bob, check the forums for more

I bought German version - no starforce. cost me 60€ plus 12,11€ for transaction

Ah sorry Bob, this guy ordered it he didn’t buy it

you can order the german version from here: buyarma.com

I’ve bought the German version from amazon.de.

Ordered not bought again

BUT-

I think this game reeks of atmosphere. I’ve never had more fun and stress cralwing to a good firing position.

Oh and Tioner: Yes you can run fast in ArmA. You can’t hit anything. The units don’t run faster than I’d expect to when someone’s shooting at me. It’s not any faster than 10MPH, and I can run almost that with a 40lb pack on (bastard friends of mine trying to make me hike all the way home ) Ah, well. To each their own

AND-

Why do I like Armed Assault? (Just got it today! yippie!!)

+Because it has all OFP had (except a few items that need refinement. Look in the disappointments thread for those) plus much more opportunity.

  • Weapon handling. The 3D sights really get me into both CQB and open field engagements, the movement of the weapon as I fire is priceless in it’s ability to pull me into the game, and have visual feedback on my barrel.

  • Object Capacity. I’ve had +250 units battling it out, with very minimal loss of FPS. (AMD 4400x2, 6800GS, Asus SLI premium, Audigy 2ZS. 2gb OCZ Platinum)

  • Visual Beauty. No, I’m not a G-Whore, but am I glad my favorite game went to a cosmetic surgeon! Everywhere you look is beauty and immersive features. (foliage, bugs, birds, shadows -need a smidge of work inside buildings, weather, waves)

I’d like to suggest to BIS that the method of ramping up graphic details when coming into a new game needs to retain the average level, so every time you turn around or run into a new bush, it doesn’t waste cycles trying to figure out what LOD will work on that particular computer. The FPS drop that happens around bushes (for me) occurs only as the bush is fleshing its LOD out to fit the capacity of my computer.
The next time I come to the bush, there is no loss. And the foliage is FANTASTIC.

note Someone please confirm this: I have a Nvidia 6800GS, I was using hard settings on it that were the same as the settings in ArmA (second highest AA & AF). I decided to turn the drivers back to ‘application controlled’, and recieved a noticable FPS boost. Anyone else have this happen? I’d hate to have it simply be less taxing settings…

+Sound. Yes, it needs to be adjusted, altered, balanced or whatever. The difference between occlusion and clear sounds need to be less dramatic IMHO - BUT when it works, it freekin’ works! I have been in several editor missions (besides the first 3 missions of the campaign), when the firefight gets cooking, and the suppressive fire starts pouring in, grenades going off through the town, there is no other sound system I want to hear from. I can’t wait for the finnesse that BIS will put on it. Yes, the HOLY $^@T feeling is back!

+Infantry/ground vehicle controls. I say Infantry and ground vehicle, because unfortunately IMHO, the air vehicles are currently a bit rough around the edges. (See the disappointments thread) The infantry controls allow for much smoother operations, and therefore more natural interaction. The ability to use ironsights while moving around and leaning is a Godsend (DAMN it’s about time… Very happy about this feature) The new crouch and weapon raise/lower is very useful, especially in a city with civvies, you must make a conscious decision and take the time to raise the weapon, few reflexive fatalities. The vehicle controls are pretty much the same as OFP… They work well, 'Nuff said

That’s all for now!

So some people do have it…

Looks Brilliant ! Is this the game that works with Track IR?

Yes it does, and yes it is (supposed to at least).

Oh no… thats it then… When OFP came out I was slaved to the pc for 3 months. Didn’t eat, lost 4 stone, and was found close to death by a worried neighbour…When I get this its curtains! :roflmao:

Demo’s out  (gamershell and mirrors >800MB)

Start the learning curve here crikey but boy does it look amazing really realistic kit
