Hey Y’all will be around today 3/30/15 if anyone is up for some DCS? Any Mod is good for me as I own almost all of them.:o Ill be on TS at 8GMT.
Os can you put me on the right track please.
Of late I have seen a few nice YT vids with DCS planes, A10,MiG21 etc and of course the F15C (F18 Super Hornet when it comes out…oh yeah baby!) and I’m getting a real taste for a jet sim.
Do I download DCS world and then purchase the aircraft that are not in DCS world seperately?
Cheers.
Charlie.
that’s correct Charlie
DCS World is free and comes with two planes, the Su25 and TF51
The other planes you buy separetely, and I advice you to wait for the monthly sales whre you can find 50% and 705 discounts on many of them.
Can’t do Monday’s Os. Splash and I had a bit of Fishbed on Friday. I’m up for the same this week and will post up. Just running my base mission with various types on the apron.
I picked up the Sabre over the weekend as well.
This is correct Charlie you need to buy Mods for the individual Aircraft,. Wait for the discounts usually 50%-80% off, but you do get the TF-51 and the Frogfoot free.I would start with a easy Mod this would be the F-86 Saber very easy to fly.
Sounds good to me keets, I have some missions for the MiG 21 and the F-86 hopefully I will see you next friday.
I got DCS World downloaded and I’ve been trying out the SU-25, quite a fun plane in it’s own way and I haven’t even tried weapons yet (or even worked out how you’re meant to select and fire them)
Next question… As I got DCS World from the DCS website, do I need to purchase any other mods from DCS only? The reason I ask is because I do not understand this “compatibility” thing between DCS and Steam??
Cheers Keets.
I’ve bought a pair of Dcs discounted module for the first time and with the key is possible to do 10 activations of each one of them, i really don’t get the point, what does it means this?
Could Anybody explain?
Thanks in advance
Unless I have misunderstood things, the number of activations means that you can install it, activate it, uninstall it, install and activate it again, uninstall etc 10 times. So normally 10 activations should be plenty unless you buy a new computer every half year or so.
And if it gets to 0 and you need to install/activate again, you just email customer support and they’ll sort it for you. It’s to give you flexibility in that you can have DCS and the modules installed on more than one PC at once, but prevent mass distribution/piracy of keys.
I’m enjoying the Frogfoot at the moment (as its the only jet I currently own) but I seem to have quite a blurring of the cockpit gauges.
The best way to explain it is in this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKLO_PC62_o
From 0 to 10 seconds is the image I get all the time of the cockpit gauges. Then after 10 seconds the gauges suddenly become a lot more defined.
Any ideas what setting I need to change to get this clarity of the cockpit gauges?
Cheers.
Charlie.
Quick Edit: I have watched the vid I posted 4 times now, and the cockpit gauges become more defined at either the 10 second mark or the 15 second mark
In the settings you can specify the resolution of the gauges.
I’m at work at the minute, but will try and get online to screenshot my settings tonight.
Charlie, I have Downloaded Ricardo’s High Definition Cockpits it will get rid of the blur. http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/category/160-complete-cockpit/ file should come with a Readme pretty easy to install and will not effect Multiplayer as it is local.
FYI, the TF-51 is free too it should be in your DCS World.
Haven’t learnt the systems yet - but an EAF Sabre outing sounds ridiculously good fun.
Not liking the smeared canopy glass though in the last update…
Cheers Keets & Oz.
Also to be honest, I can’t stop flying this Frogfoot thing, it’s such a step up from flying props and the cockpit management of weapons and radar mode is a job on it’s own, great bloody stuff!
If you like the managment wait till you buy the A-10C
How does the complexity of the A-10C compare to that of the SU-25T?
I’m having a hoot with the Frogfoot but a real pain in the ass is assigning so many joy/throttle switches to the commands and then trying to remember what does what and when :o
A-10 is the most complex out of all DCS modules. The best way to learn is to fly with someone who knows the systems so you get accustomed to what you need to do.
As far as the assignment, I have I have assigned all my Jet Aircraft with basically the same assignments regardless of Nato or Russian. Print this out http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/w/images/2/21/Dcsa10c-keybindings.pdf then write your personal settings on the side of each imput so you can remember them, it made it easy for me.
Or if you have plenty of money to spend buy a Thrustmaster Warthog.
P.S. Tell me when you are on we can fly together Im off all week, I’ll set up a Server.
Gulp!
I am around on Saturday and Sunday (have an “essex” wedding to attend tomorrow, all bums, boobs, botox and orange tans, can’t wait  )
Let me know what times are best for you.
As it’s my first DCS date, do you mind wearing a pair of Cossack boots like me and hopping in a Frog?
