Anyone had the CanoScan 4400 Scanner and had a problem with it not detecting the Twain
connection? I have been trying again and again (uninstalling, reinstall, etc, etc for hours) to get this blasted thing working and its no go. It
s real frustrating since the scanner is like the computer part of my art and I can`t do anything on computers without it.
I`ve tried a few options from some sites, so this is a last chance check here just in case someone knows a fix for the scanner not detecting the twain .
Tomorrow, it goes back and Ill get a cheap £30 model as this kind of bull doesn
t do my artistic juices any good!
My old one worked better.
Right, back to the shop it goes.
Haha! This is getting funny.
Bought another canoscan (different type). same problem. So took it back, no more canon scanners for me. Bought an HP 3970. Started it actually got a picture coming up…
Then it died.
yes. just died. dead. Nada.
Back to the shop again tomorrow.
Really, I think something doesn`t want me to have a scanner - ever.
Just had to say.
The saga continues…:roflmao::mad:
Maybe Ill throw the next one out the window cos i
m sure it`ll find something to screw up on.
Have you tried removing the previous drivers in safe mode painter ?
Sporran
I think you mean peacemaker.
I did all of that stuff before, but dont worry about it. This last scanner
s dead anyway, it`s gotta go back.
Peace, I use a Cannon LIDE
Two drives show in XP, one of which I mustn’t use (WPA maybe?)
Canoscan lide 25 here, no problems with it working at all.
Do you import pictures via PSP/PS or from the utility software ?
I don’t bother with any software, just stick the drivers in if xp doesn’t autodetect and use PS
apologies Peacemaker :o and Painter

I have a cannon LIDE scanner, older parallel port model though, never had a days trouble with it. model n340p i think,
Sorry, guys, I already got rid of them - guess I shouldve waited a little bit longer for a response. I did check around on the net and tried solutions with the canons not finding the
twain driver when I know it was installed. Someone said it could be cos my system is heavily partitioned and NTFS, but i
m not unpartitioning or going back to Fat32. I even edited the environment variables, etc. Im giving it a rest until next week for now. I
ll just keep doing the artwork which will build up nicely until I get a scanner that works for me.
OK, gotta another brand new scanner: Hewlett packard. I have a good printer by them.
The scanner actually succeeded in a demo preview print of one my sexy sorcerous female characters, but the scene mustve been too much for it and it froze when I scanned for a proper pic. Since then it
s having all kinds of trouble and no more pictures will print. Even with old drivers removed its the same, the whole thing just freezes. I quit out, but then the whole PC moves at a crawl and I must restart... i
ve done a whole diagnostic test on the scanner and it works, so Im convinced that something
s up with my PC. especially now that my XFI soundcard has quit (I know it works), and won`t re-enable the sound at all- ever.
Drastic measures are needed. A reformat. This will make sure ALL rubbish (like old drivers) are gone and allow me to start clean.
I will defeat this problem yet, oh yes.
