A great encounter

Two days ago, on April 16th, in varese, a small city about 50 Km north of Milano, I met this guy:

His name is Roberto Crespi. At the time in which this picture was taken he was the young Tenente (first Leutenant) Crespi, pilot of 132° Gruppo, Baltimore Wimg. He is now Retired General Roberto Crespi, and is 91 years old.
Born in 1918, in 1940-43 he was aS.79 torpedo pilot of the Regia Aeronautica, and 1944-45, when he was 26 years old, he was flying EAF Baltimore bombers. More precisely, he was the pilot of 132-20, the Baltimore that we use with the same skin on Slovakia map.He is now the only surviving pilot of the ICAF Baltimore wing.

Joe90 have been using his plane for his EAF movie, on the part related to 20° and 132° Gruppo.
I gave the movie to Paola Crespi, the General’s daughter, and she told me she was crying when she saw it. She told me to give Joe her appreciation, and promised she will show the movie to the General. I believe Joe90 must be really proud about that.

I also asked her if there is any chance to meet her father together with the EAF51 guys, and she said yes. So I will try to organize the thing.

An impressive “carnet” was painted on his Baltimore!
Should be interesting to know what means the different bombs silouettes.
Count on me to meet this veteran.

“Fortes Fortuna Adjuvat”

A very lucky coincidence. I hope that he have a lot of good stories to tell you lucky bastards

maybe different target but will be nice hear each story of that

Yes, I supposed it… but wich target for wich silouette? If we meet Crespi we can ask him

I have the feeling we will have a chance to meet him. I am in contact with his daughter, and working for organizing the meeting.
