joe90 but every time i try to join a game it loads rot two secs and crash,s apart from vanilla any ideas guys would be much apreciated

Hi there Redundent - welcome to the EAF forums!
Its a bit of a dance to get those mods working - but stick with it - its defintely worth it. 
Which method of enabling mods are you using? The JGSME switcher or have you copied and put a seperate install of il2:1946 which you have modded up?
Aslo when did you have the crash - offline? Or trying to connect to one of the servers in HL?
I’m not a tech guru - but we have some folks here who might be able to help once we know a few more details of your set-up…
Having mods installed is not somthing that should be needed to join EAF, although it might make things easier to find someone to fly with.
For training basic 4.08 should be enough.
Hi Redundent and good to see in the forums. Hopefully you’ll get some help to get the mods up so you can get some flights with EAF before starting Training.
As Mikke says, there are some missions we fly without mods, so look out for them too. If you see any EAF hosting, just check the description and there will hopefully be a note if it’s 4.08 vanilla or 4.09 modded.
Or if you see any of us in a dogfight server, just let whoever is in know who you are and fly along with us.
What’s you HL name, by the way?

I wouldn’t worry too much about the Mods, for the moment…there’s plenty of servers in which you can fly with a plain 4.08 installation.
Start getting a good grasp on the basic techinques of group flying, first.
The real problem is the limited number of available T/Os, I would say…:rolleyes:
I’m quite willing to fly with you as much as you wish, though lacking the skills needed to teach anything to anybody (except maybe a few hints on navigation and bombing…:rolleyes:).
Do as I did, at the beginning: try to fly as often as possible with any EAF Pilot from any EAF Squadron…you’ll soon start to like it more and more, besides developing your own group af good acquaintances inside our Virtual Wing.
During our usual pre-flight chitter-chatter, you’ll surely get also some useful help for a MODS install suitable to take part to the incoming Wars…but you anyway need to earn your Wings before, and that can be obviously done even without Mods!! 
P.S. You may ask yourself “Why an Itie in 602?”
Well, having been gifted by Mother Nature with an almost perfect pair of legs (much in Gary Cooper’s style, they say), I thought that a KILT would have suited me like the dog’s danglies…:roflmao:
I dunno who advised about the Mods, but as a new joiner I would recommend starting with standard 4.08. Most of us have the modded version, but also the normal default version as spare, so we can still fly on that.

Redundent, I would recommend you have two seperate installations if you have the disk space. The JGSME does work but there have been quite a lot of problems with some people, and also the switchover time can be quite long.
If you have one Vanilla version and it works, it’s worth keeping that precious. Then when you see any EAF online and in that version you can come straight in and join us.
Make a copy of that, and try to mod up the copy version with the patch links I sent you.
Monstter mentioned that we are short of T/O’s just now, but that is only in 602. There are T/O’s from other squadrons who will take up any new trainee once they are accepted in OTU.
First things first, though. Get a few flights with ANYONE from EAF, doesn’t have to be a T/O. Once you get to know us and we get to know you, then the application process to join as an official trainee can be started.
