It seems like we are getting seriously split up due to mods etc and at the same time a feeling of “same old, same old” have come over at least some of us. Really, how fun is it to trudge along in old planes with a big fan in the front in the long run? :barf:
The coming WW1 sim is on it’s way, but it seems like it’s still quite far off, so after putting quite a lot of research into this, I suggest we simply switch to another, released sim, at least until something new and really better is released (perhaps BoB sometime around 2015? :rolleye: ).
My suggestion is that we go with Strike Fighters 2. It really have everything. A new exiting geographic area to fly over. New planes, NO PROPS! and from different eras.
Imagine flying a F-4 against Migs, quite a challange!
And for those who loves to mess with mods, it have loads of possibilities.
Can we get everyone to get the new sim before the end of next week so we can start flying it as a group by april 13?
There is some minor issues with the sim, but I’m sure we can work around it…
So let’s do like USA did, and go for some real change!
No, seriously! I mean, we even have people that have started flying air racing. What’s next, ground racing, fastest around a track without getting airborne?
No, Strike Fighter 2 is really the way to go. Change FTW!!! :w00t:
Should you buy it? Put me down as saying wait for now, but yes, definitely as more tools for it (like a weapons editor) become available.
Pros
* High-resolution cockpits
* Out-of-the-box compatibility with Windows Vista
* New liveries for stock aircraft
* New campaign options that make it easier to fly whatever you want
* More ground objects and enemy aircraft than the original release
Cons
* No multiplayer
* Missing .LODs for certain weapons
* Limited mod-ability due to weapons pack
* Editing campaigns is a hit-and-miss journey of searching for landmines
No multiplayer? Lappri! I’m not online anyway, uh, not so I can fly properly I mean. :roflmao:
The Sims, hmm, wasn’t it that Joe was going to use for some movie, or something?
To be honest, I really wouldn’t mind a good jet sim, or a proper heli sim. I did have LOMAC, but in russian :rolleyes: so I never got into it. I’m actually reading about Janes Longbow series, really great sims for it’s time, one I played a lot pre-online flying. http://www.simhq.com/_air10/air_320a.html
The only problem with Lock:on is that at present there is only 49 people online playing in HL in comparison with IL2. Would lack of other squads be a problem?
Black Shark is also a possibility I guess to, I see on the forum that multiplayer can be hosted for up to 16 players on a home connection without major problems. Dedicated up to 32.
The problem is that the IL2 community as a whole is running different versions of IL2 so it makes large scale online wars more difficult than before.
I’ve been thinking about getting back in to WOW for a while since all my old friends still play it. Thing that makes WOW not work though is that its time driven, if you dont have time to live on it you cant enjoy the best bits of the game. Not sure whether I should be shot just for thinking such a thing though…
The best thing about EAF though is the variety of games that people play together, yes it would be nice for BOB or RoF to be out so we could all go enjoy something new but I do like the old mass EAF DF servers set up somtimes.
