For all those who have a love of the Battle of Britain, I posted this up at Simhq… http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/2523604#Post2523604
Good find Dave, it could be worth someone setting a D/F up on Canons new map ( http://www.canons-skins.com/aaa/EnglishChannel1940beta.zip ) and re-living these early encouters in the BoB, crackin map it is to, along with the new Med map.
Edit** Just looked at the map closer and we could set some ‘Squadron Scrambles’ from quite a few of the airfields in Kent
Thanks for your nice words, Trooper…glad that our Bald Headed Madman’s intention to stab Britain in the back (as he did with France a year before) did not stain Italian Pilots’ virtues…
I still recall those touching photos at RAF Museum in Hendon, with the two Tommies “welcoming” a frozen crash-landed RA Pilot, finding half Chianti flask & salame in his CR42 Cockpit…:o
My Gymn Instructor at Secondary School (early 70ies) was actually one of those CAI Pilots…he always spoke about 109s roaring ahead, while the Ities were wondering why they were still sitting in open cockpits…
Thanks Trooper
Chris is that Channel you’re running tonight Sunday in the dogfight mission you’ve notified you’re running?
Here’s my open beta for my English Channel map - phase 1 1940.
The text file called ALL INI.txt contains the line you need to add to your all.ini file. The file called STATIC ADD.txt contains all the entries for new objects.
Just copy the MODS folder and all the necessary files should be there.
I’m on Vista and I can find two all.ini files. One is-
doe \u0020 EAF19_Ming EAF19_Ming\u0020

and the other is-
[all]

I’ve added the Channel entry to the most likely all.ini file, one all.ini is in my Users folder and the other is in a Training folder: both in my main Il-2 folder
The bit I’m finding obscure is-
Just copy the MODS folder and all the necessary files should be there.
Something missing there- copy the MODS folder and do what with it do you know please?
The file called STATIC ADD.txt contains all the entries for new objects
Can’t see a Static folder… sorry. Anyone already got it working can give a standard do-this-do-that for Dummies briefing please? Not to get the ‘Something’s missing…’ error online - thanks
Ming
The Static.ini should be in the STD\com\maddox\il2\objects in the Mods folder, that should be the only one in the game.
Open Canons Mods download and there will be two folders, CAN_Objects and CAN_Channel then,…
download this http://www.canons-skins.com/aaa/Blister.zip and follow the instructions for placement, also Canon’s ststic.ini file http://www.canons-skins.com/aaa/static.zip then,…
Copy the CAN_Channel into your MapMods folder and the CAN_Objects into your Mods folder, add the required lines to the Static.ini and all.ini (in MapMods folder) as instructed.
This should enable the map to work in FMB (and online)
The QMB stuff is a tad more complicated, but can be got around (with time and beer)
self installer
Ta Chris!
