You are right, at first it was banter but then an out-of-context comment took all the attention away from the original intention of teasing Blue to challenge us on SOW.
I think people finally got the good intention of the original post, and it was never supposed to create so much misunderstood and negative “us vs them” mentality. But the way people started to attack or nitpick every little detail OD mentioned could not be left hanging without a proper answer anyway. Now things have calmed down as everyone involved has had their say and know each other’s opinions.
Until another person misunderstands and starts it all over again. :rolleyes:
Just another joke Jimmi, don’t worry! The discussion is turning nicely now into much more constructive stuff. If we are fortunate we might bring the trend around and get more Blue bombers involved in these event nights.
I agree with Jimmi, tongue in cheek banter is fine, but keep that stiff upper lip and know we’re doing right without having to say it. You’re never going to convince a Blue that Reds are doing it better, so why bother.
Yes Swoop that is true, although this banter can easily be seen as boast, why the massive assault on OD for simply mentioning a factual statistic? If a Blue player announced someone else in their squadron were currently leading the way on the always hotly debated killing scoreboard, which does not mean being “better” than any other, just leading on a list, no Reds would have minded it and seen it as cheeky banter. We would have promptly returned the act with our own banter and so the rivalry debate would have gone on. But when a Red starts the banter it is very differently received.
Probably because the style of banter is different for Blue and Red players and probably because that FB group has 80% of its posts by Blues, making it easily a hostile environment if a Red banter is misunderstood.
It’s because it hit a nerve and gives an insight into the Blue psyche and what is obviously important to them. Maybe their aces are truly respected and so this is a slap in the face.
We work as a team more, we have to. They can and do work as individuals with a wingman as they have a plane that can start and leave a fight.
Well we will have a bulleye painted on our heads now, so should see some action
