Games For Bollocking Windows

I used to sign in to Games For Windows with a Mington logon

After I reinstalled Vista and GTA4 my saved-games can’t be recognised by GTA4

I see that now my GFW logon logs me on as EvanOfCaerleon, an avatar I use for RPGs, Fallout3 and so on

This could be why GTA4 won’t allow my savegames to be loaded, because to GTA4 I am not the user Mington

How in God’s name  can I get my Mington user logon working again, I only have one GFW account and that’s EvanOfCaerleon (Roman amphitheatre, fort beside the Usk river in Wales)

Does anyone know where Mington’s gone

Or of course a fix for this if possible please. I can’t remember how Evan got himself mixed up with Games For Windows, other than that I bought the Anchorage Alaska DLC from a XBox 360 account that I needed to set up simply to buy the abominable XBox Points that you need in order to buy that DLC. The XBox live site is a nightmare and I haven’t even got a bloody XBox

Anyone know how to contact Games For Windows support?

Otherwise I have to start GTA4 all over again, which I’m prepared to do if all else fails but I was at Peregorino’s Pride and it was getting even more interesting… grrr

Hmm. Not good.

Now when I had GTAIV I was able to Revoke my registration, allowing me to return it to the store. Try doing that and starting again? This is why I prefer Windows Live over Steam (though I would prefer not having either).

p.s. You can play Offline with Live too, but like Steam, they don`t make it easy to see.

Looks as if the Mington avatar must logon to get at my GTA4 saved games but my usual email address is tied to EvanOfCaerleon on Games For Windows Live

How the devil was I able to logon as Mington then. Some other Mington has blagged all my ‘Took Michelle Bowling’ achievements I bet

Couple more days Sherlockery then will start a new game

I mean Ming

Dunno how it is with GTA4, but in Fallout 3 I had to activate Windows Live to buy Anchorage, and suddenly all my save games wasn’t available untill I moved them, as I had played them offline and they weren’t registered under my Windows Live login.

In FO3 they were in (Vista) My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves and I had to move them to My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves\LanceHawkins (my Windows Live/Xbox Live accountname), and hey presto I could load the saves.

It’s all mixed up with XBox Live, you have to create an XBox Live account and- well it’s ridiculous I won’t bore you. Lesson learned and it’s only a game after all

Started over after hearing nothing from any GFW/Rockstar support, it’s even better this time and I’ve never played a game twice in my life. A work of genius, absolutely hilarious at times and a really cool blend of RPG and simulation. But don’t take my word for it I’m a thieving toerag
