I contacted Mikke about flying with the EAF, which seems to be the unit closest to what I want. My availability is really low, which I’ve said before, here, so he said that the possibility of becoming a member is remote, and that I wouldn’t be able to participate in war missions.
This is fine by me, I’d just be glad to have people I know who fly as a team when I’m able to show up.
If this is OK with you guys, I hope to see you on the skies from time to time (I’m wondering how often you fly together)! If you think that I’d be better off with another squadron, just say so, I understand too and will look for other options
Cheers!
João Martins from Portugal (GMT +0:00, like all you UK folks)!
Hi Anvilfolk our squad nights are monday and thursday so you will find many more of us online on those nights.
As you realise your inability to fly regularly may be a problem with joining EAF, but this will not stop you being able to join some of the co op & dogfight missions we often put up on hyperlobby. Feel free to ask whoever is hosting and im sure they will happily let you tag along and fly alongside us should they have slots free.
Hi Anvilfolk, nice to see another portuguese interested in EAF, we had one pilot from Lisboa and he was one heck of a pilot too.
We are not all from UK. You can find people from all over Europe, including a neighbour of yours, myself We even have an Italian that speaks german and wears kilt…
As Meako said, look for any EAF on HL and page him to fly in our coops and dogs, no problem at all.
If your future sutuation enables you to fly more often, like twice a week then you could start training and join us.
Hi, and obrigado pela informação and for the warm greeting
I’ll just keep on trying to hook up with you guys - and yes, this is my nick on HL
I saw you all yesterday, an enormous list, but was too busy to join at the time! It would’ve been perfect too! Oh well! I’ll guess I’ll stick to any EAF tag I see on HL, hehe.
I also see I have terribly big shoes to fill, I doubt I’ll ever be up to it. I do wear a kilt occasionally, and speak a little German so I guess it’s not all bad! Hehehehe!
I have a question though. Exactly how does this squadron thing work? I see you have quite a few, distributed geographically. Are there separate activities for each and so on?
Since my modded version doesent work I would be happy to fly with you.
Flying single usually get me killed
Just as the other I fly monday and thursdays from 2030+
I have my own TS server to make matters easier.
What gameversion are you using?
I currently have two things - one main copy, unmodified: straight patched 4.08, and one on my external HD, which I don’t have here at the moment. However, I installed the main AAA package, and I think I have mod switcher (4.08 or 4.09 with or without mods both? Not sure! Still haven’t figured out all the community add-ons).
Thank you so much for this! I suppose it might be a good start to teamplay. Should I simply look out for you when I’m online, or do you want to set a time to meet up? It’s up to you, you’re giving me the opportunity
Think nothing of it. I have been unable to fly due to mod problems so I am just glad to get flying with a wingman. I quit rusty.
How about monday 2030 (GMT+1) ?
I suggest we use an hour on a getting aquinted. I can setup a small DF server so we can talk and train without getting desturbed before we go out in the “wild” ;).
Is that OK with you?
EDIT: BTW: I fly stock 4.08m and 409bm (so I am able to fly some planes on BoB1940_by_LW1 server).
In the worst case scenario, I’ll leave the university at around 7 o’clock CET (your time, right?). I will have enough time to get home before 8:30 CET
I might have to miss the first part of the night’s activities so I can have dinner - or maybe convince every to let me eat in front of the PC
Also finally got TS working A-OK today, with a set of headphones and a mic. Had a blast and learnt a lot from a very nice Canadian fellow, Midnight.
I seem to be having connection problems though - occasional high pings and getting booted from servers. It didn’t use to happen… I guess we’ll see. I hope it’s not too bad!
And it is on this very day that my ISP decides it’s a good idea to do an “unplanned maintenance”. Which means I’m out of regular internet.
I do have a Vodafon USB thing, but I’m guessing the pings and packet loss will be enormous. Gah, the frustration! I was so looking forward to this! I’m still hoping it’ll come back on, and will try flying in a bit. We’ll see!
I’m away on HL right now, having dinner. Will be back in half an hour and meet up with you
I’d just like to publicly thank Starfire for taking me under his wing (sometimes quite literally!) yesterday. I had a blast, and learnt a whole lot. I was also much too lucky for my own good, so I can only disappoint from now on, hehe.
Thanks Starfire, and I hope you manage to sort out your mod problems soon!
Cheers!:ani_beer:
Oh, and I almost forgot, Arturo also, if I remember correctly, for saying hi on HL
Hello Wallash and welcome to EAF. Feel free to contact and fly with us on Hyper lobby on mon & thursday nights. Also check out the “Wanna be an EAF pilot” thread at the top of this forum for more information about how to join.
The choice of server depends very much on the Sqd in question.
A training evening usually start on your own. It is not unusual that to log on to the server that other Sqd members have choosen just to get started. Later when enough have gathered a EAF training server gets started.
Most of EAF are engaged in a SE campaigns with/against 22 GCT. But this is a members & Mods only server.
Personally I like Spits vs 109 (4.08, no mods), but I resently tried BoB but where unable to fly some of the planes.
BTW: Your age is not a problem. The average age in EAF are 38, with a heavy part in the 40’ies and 50’ies. The few in the teens and early twentiees makes the average drop to the late 30’ies.
