Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark will be released in Russia and other CIS states through 1C Company on 17 October in both retail and digital download from the http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?lang=ru website. Details of DCS: Black Shark includes:

Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark

• DCS: Black Shark is a simulation of the Russian Ka-50 attack helicopter and is the first simulation module of the Digital Combat Simulator series by The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics.

• DCS: Black Shark can be played as the most realistic combat helicopter simulation ever created for the PC with authentic flight dynamics and systems modeling. Black Shark may also be played as a console-style arcade game for the casual gamer.

• A detailed and accurate 330,000 sq km depiction of the western Caucasus region serves as the battlefield and includes a broad array of eastern and western air, land and sea units.

• Each air, land and sea unit is accurately modeled to include detailed models, weapon systems, movement dynamics and artificial intelligence. Each bullet, rocket, shell or bomb fired is modeled in detail for accurate performance.

• Powerful and easy to use Mission and Campaign Editors are provided to allow creation of user-created missions and campaigns. Non-linear campaigns are provided with unlimited replayability.

• Multiplayer game play is provided to include both cooperative play using the Ka-50 data link and head-to-head. Multiplayer supports up to 16 players.

• A set of detailed training missions, single missions and a campaign are included.

Ka-50 “Black Shark” Features

• A highly-detailed six degrees of freedom cockpit allows you to look anywhere in the cockpit using TrackIR®.

• An unrivalled flight physics system provides the most realistic helicopter flight experience available.

• Interface with the fully 3D cockpit using a mouse with the option for an English cockpit.

• Detailed modelling and control of engine, fuel, hydraulics, electrical, navigation, radio, fire suppression, sensor, and weapon systems (casual game play modes also available).

• Advanced weapon physics for missiles, rockets and cannon rounds to include ricochets.

• Detailed simulation of the “Shkval” optical targeting system and the “Vikhr” anti-tank guided missile system that allows attacks on both ground and air units.

• Accurate emulation of both the “ABRIS” moving map navigation system and “Skosok” night vision goggles for day and night missions.

In addition to the Russian version, a single western version (DVD and download) including support for English, French, German and Spanish is currently in development. Much localization work still remains and there will be a 90-day period between when the western version is completed and submitted to the various Age Rating Authorities as required by law (ESRB for USA, PEGI for Europe (less Germany) and USK for Germany), then presented to distributers and when the game will be available for purchase. Although the game will be completed in 2008, it may not be available for purchase until early 2009.
Between now and the release of the western version, we will be releasing free content for DCS: Black Shark to include: the DCS User Manual, the Ka-50 Simulation Flight Manual, and probably an English-only interactive demo.
A printed, spiral-bound 550+ page Ka-50 flight manual will also be available for sale.

Both the retail and digital download versions of DCS: Black Shark will be using the latest version of StarForce. The DVD version will require a weekly check. This decision was made only after three years of testing using well over 100 beta testers over a wide array of hardware and installed software. During these three years of intensive testing, not a single tester encountered a StarForce-related problem. We feel StarForce provides a safe and effective means of combating software piracy.

DCS: Black Shark will be available in both boxed retail versions and internet download from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

Black Shark will be using the latest version of StarForce

Not good.

Why ?

LockOn use starforce too.

It might have been a coincidence (unlikely) but directly after I installed GTL with starforce my DVD rewriter went down. It would error out reading data, and even with it left in my PC I was getting BSODs. Removed the drive and plugged it into a spare box and got the same issues. Stripped the drive down and saw nothing mechanical wrong with it. I can only think the firmware went tits up. Being as I have access to what ever I need for free in regards to drives and HDDs I just replaced it. I’ve seen countless others who had similar problems. I do not trust Starforce, which is why I haven’t got Lockon.

I hope they have levels in between as well. Should I buy it (which I’m not sure about, see StarForce comments below) I definetly don’t want a “console-style arcade game”, but on the other hand, I don’t have time to learn thousands of commands and procedures, just to start the engine…

About Starforce, I simply don’t trust it, don’t trust the makers of it (arrogant b-stards from what I’ve seen), and while my memory is a bit hazy, I have a vague momory of my CD/DVD-drive acting strange when I had LOMAC with Starforce installed. The drive revved up (making high rev noice), and didn’t go down for some time, without reason. I have removed LOMAC/Starforce, and it no longer does it. No destroyed drives or anything, and I might even remember wrong, but I really don’t want to install it again.
Anyone want to buy a russian version of LOMAC btw? :stuck_out_tongue:
(It beeing in russian was also a big part in me uninstalling it, had to change the setting of the keyboard to fly, and I had problems using it due to everything including menues is in russian.)

everything including menues is in russian

But you’ve got to admit Mikke, if you are flying the Russian stuf - that’s the highest level of authenticity…

Now we’ve just got to get a helmet to intepret our brainwaves…

Think in Russian”

I see that there will be a download version Mikke which has online authentication not Starforce. Might not true (about no Starforce) but worth finding out more if that’s for real

Ming

:roflmao: @ Flash, authentic, yes, playable, no. :stuck_out_tongue: Though I know at least one nice russian girl, I don’t speak it at all.
About Firefox, I have only read the book, have tried to find the movie, but no luck so far.

Thanks Ming, I do want to try it, and if it’s possible without Starforce, the likelyness goes up.

It’s mentioned in my first post, the download version will have StarForce as well.

there are home or professional edition like Windows? :roflmao: I pray for no and if i change my Hardware I lost one activation key of 3 ?

I report what I read potential users saying, it may be rumour but then so is marketing until the sim is delivered

see how work touch screen in BS

After watching the touch screen video I think a Thousand was more of a exaggeration looked like he flipped about 100 switches :pI find when I’m using TIR on FSX it is very hard to keep my head steady looking at the switch I’m trying to flick and end up get frustrated with the erratic movement of TIR but on the touch screen video seems he was very stable.

simply, build a cockpit

managed to procure a copy of the russian BLACK SHARK, wish i could read russian, but WOW this game looks great, the graphics are amazing, the cockpit is so pretty, seems rather complex from the quick 5 minutes i had on it, but in english i reckon it would be much easier, gonna try it again later.

managed to get most of the menus into english, makes it much easier for setting the controls which are on a list about 10 times the size of il2’s controls list, im looking at gettting an english manual for it now, im enjoying it even though im just flying round atm cos i cant figure out the weapons systems.

I have now found a partially interpreted manual, if anyone wants to read it then download it from here

http://rapidshare.com/files/155124427/DCS-BS_Flight_Manual_translated.pdf.html

after playing with it most of the evening, i have managed my first full take off, boy is it complex, but its good, real good.

BS’s graphics should be outstanding - but there were hundreds of issues with Flaming Cliffs that the BS engine is based on. Hopefully they’ve fixed them.

i have now learnt how to put the helo into a hover manually, no autopilot, use the cannon slew with a joystick hat, and even more impressive and fun, use the cannon with the helmet sight where ever i look the cannon follows, managed to hit a few jeeps and light vehicles with it.

its difficult to do this trying to maintain a hover, using collective (x45 throttle) rudder (pedals) and the cannon moving/firing at the same time, but im having a hell of a time practicing it.

my game of the year so far, i dont think its gonna be beaten either…AWESOME

Have you mastered the ABRIS yet? :stuck_out_tongue: How are the ground models they look awesome in the screen shots?
Cant wait till it comes out here, will need a beefer computer tho

aside from pushing the various buttons on the arbis i havent tried much with it, the ground models look great, ive heard a rumour from the BS community that the european version will be released before christmas.
