Was reading about this the other week, looking forward to it big time
I’m still having fun with ‘Soap’… (CoD4)

I think my wife said she was buying it friday as she has it on pre order…thats the PS3 in full use for a few days…looks like im doing the house work:(
Well see. i
m a little jaded with these as they seem too arcade. Flame throwers, so what? Shooting them will be quicker. I hope there`s more substance than that.
I have CoD 4 and i love the graphics they are the best out there, but i have concerns about the gameplay and really hope they address my issues.
In CoD4 you can shoot a wall and if you hit someone behind it your cursor tells you that you hit so you can shoot somemore until you kill them.
The multiplayer maps are beautiful but so small you often get killed in or just as you leave spawn.
When you compare it to the large maps in Arma or Red Orchestra, in CoD you are not encouraged to think carefully and sit in ambush for someone its more Counter Strike run around kill or be killed, its not at all tactical.
the cod series is made for the masses, cod 1 was the best in my opinion, it quickly got worse as the series progressed, now i have played the cod 5 beta demo and can see the pattern continuing, the maps are small on the cod series so everyone can play them(easier on system resources), the graphics are so good because they dont have to draw them at 300 metres like in ARMA and red orchestra and the battlefield series of games.
now im not knocking anyone who is a console gamer, but i feel pc games are being made as an afterthought, the console comes first and the pc second with a lot of the latest releases.
but to sum it up, thumbs down for cod 5 from me, this will be the last cod game i play i think, it looks like its becoming a money spinner, like the FIFA football games was, releasing below par games every year, until pro evo soccer came along then fifa had to buck up their ideas.
Installing it off DVD, will report back
Coop sounds good according to reports and big online maps with vehicles

Read that the single player mode is only about 10 hours worth, very short for the money me thinks.
I know they are made mainly now for online, and I have had a blast with COD4, but I want more off line for my money.
I have heard from a reliable contact…(my wife), it can be done in 3 evenings, the AI is not better than COD4 infact in some places they are damn stupid, but overall it is a good game.
I did CoD 4 in 1 evening
In-depth reports notwithstanding
It’s WW2.
Patched it right away, wouldn’t run, filesyscheck.cfg error. Re-installing

It’s an audio dll problem (XAudio2_0.dll error), down to the Asus DX2/Vista thing probably, Restore Point cross fingers

(updated soundcard drivers doh)
Zombies we got zombies Peacemaker. After completing the campaign if I’m remembering right
Wow stunning lighting and animations, you definitely are there. Mass bayonet charges, blokes getting thrown over shoulders I’m just standing around with my jaw open for now the battlefield is really alive and busy. Amazing particle generator stuff
Weapons so far sound fine to me, thuds and clicks of hammer on metal more than crisp more-mechanical modern sounds where the round’s propellant’s fully spent in about 4 milliseconds

Multiplayer is fairly amazing and the usual CoD-style blast but also moonlit beaches and Japanese coming out of the woodwork/bamboo with bayonets, very movielike death-animations and glorious maps - mouth-watering shaders everywhere. Much more like OFP and RO in feel

On my xmas wish list… someone in the family will take pity on me I reckon…
Still playing BIA hells highway at the moment… thats another one for that movie feel… its like taking part in Band of Brothers!!
