Well, played it for a couple of days and have to say what a complete waste of money.

Terrible game play with (in my opinion) very poor choice of game type.

I liked the old BF2 and add ons (European theatre etc) but this is just piss poor.
My 10yr old lad finished the single player in a little over 4 hours so even that is weak.

Looks good as a coffee cup mat though

Iā€™ve played a little singleplayer and that was good with very movielike characters and great character animations, excellent motion-capture stuff. Awesome cutscenes (rendering I mean, where the wide-wide-screen thing kicks in)

Online for a bit and the old BF1942 feeling is coming back, wide open spaces for mounting attacks and not too many chokepoints

Weā€™re running an EAF ground forces outfit Flash but on a casual basis, European Ground Forces EGF. Iā€™m EGF_Ming in there and currently going for Private First Class :slight_smile:

This way you get into a game with no waiting around, you canā€™t choose the mission this way but they are all good :slight_smile:

I was in a tank and the driverā€™s HDR view very bright, wonderful looking out from the dark

EA servers donā€™t seem to be able to cope, also there are disconnect and punkbuster issues, add to that random CTDā€™s, servers showing full when there are only 3 people in them, system locks and other things.

Apart from that it seems to be running wellā€¦:frowning:

Only had a few shots so far, I need to kick the kid off, heā€™s hooked with online play. Seems to have all the same and better from BF1942, but heā€™s playing with a team which makes all the difference.

Thereā€™s something pleasing and different looking about the graphics, canā€™t quite put my finger on it. Maybe itā€™s the over saturation or the slightly gamey look, but it seems to work as a gamerā€™s game for sure.

Good - superb graphics - awesome sounds (firing weapon indoors/outdoors), and explosions (wow). Plus destructible scenery! Not only cool looking but allows mouseholing/breaching and all the real life urban combat puzzles that can be solved with high explosivesā€¦:wink:

(Sniper in the church tower holding up advance - no problem drop mortars on him:D).

Bad - takes FOREVER to find update servers. Still havenā€™t got the browser to filter properly yet - it took too long. Sound on cut-scenes is odd with the dialoue v v faint - a shame when the squad jokes are part of the atmosphere. Plus graphics - the washed out/destaturated look is very Generation Kill, but makes it bloody hard to see anything - ā€˜trying to shoot a white bad guy on a white background, with white muzzle flashā€™ - its like a black and white film at timesā€¦ Laurel and Hardy play MW2ā€¦

odd, that, the colours and detail are sharp as anything on the Xbox and TV. All your other complaints too, Flash, are non existant on this platform.

Maybe this one was designed more for the couch gamers, than the mouse and keyboarders.

Crowded servers of course early doors but itā€™s a blast in there

Quite story-like (in mp) in places, that big dam map where if you lose they blow the dam in a trailing cutscene- nice touches, still team-based and realistic cover now I notice (boulders,trees, breathe in and hold it)

Unlocks and medals drop into the GUI online, good stats screens, sterling stuff, feels like youā€™re being looked after by the desks at HQ. No idea of how anything works yet but itā€™s a complex sim no rush :slight_smile:

Best map that I have managed to get into at the mo is Panama (Squad Rush), like the destruction level, hate the sound, cannot ā€˜toneā€™ it down as of yet.

The filter for MP is very weak as well, hope that will change
