Ok, basic premise for Mission 2 drawn up:

A Russian defector has contacted the CIA with information about Russian plans for Georgia and the surrounding region.

The defector is due to be extracted from a radar black spot near the border. Air support will not cross the border unless there is an emergency and an imminent threat to the extraction. A back up helicopter will be on standby. The mission is to be deniable, if anything happens to the extraction chopper it must be destroyed. Any border incursion must have explicit permission from controllers on-board the AWACS.

    Aircraft:
    • F-5E
    • AV-8B N/A
    • F/A-18
    • AJS37 Viggen
    • SA-342M Gazelle

Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to.

Also started to work up Mission 3. I don’t know how many I will make, but I think a series of them should be fun.

Sounds good OD, a continuous campaign should keep it interesting with a bunch of different mission objectives.

We now have the mission fully working...all we need are the numbers to make it a one flight jobby! We flew with three F/A-18's and an A-10C last night and the A-10 was able to take out target one all by itself (after it had been shot down and the Hornets had to go an find a carrier as a result!) We were then able to line up the Hornets cab-rank style to blow base two to bits.

So we've now started to be able to fly night strike missions, with in-flight refuelling and navigation, as well as carrier ops. I don't think any of us have yet taken the Hornet back to the carrier though, only Harriers. As a result we've not technically completed the mission yet. I may add another tanker in, as it can take us a long time to get refuelled due to constant drop offs from the tanker - the Hornet seems harder to hold in place than the Harrier. Also there isn't a tanker for the A-10C, so I may need to add a KC-135 too.

I'll also work on the enemy aircraft so that more of them engage, as the Su-27's just seem to disappear off!

Mission finally complete. Managed without losses, took a few lots of in-flight refuelling. All targets destroyed. We even went wild weaselling afterwards and goaded some SA-6 sites into coming online. We’ve been able to buddy lase targets and hit with precision weapons. We’ve also had to input new waypoints to hit other targets. All of this was then rounded off with night carrier landings. If we can start to put this together we can start to make a coherent and competent strike force.

Would be great to get others up to speed and joining in.
