    Second official Mention in Despatches

Squadron Leader Mram, European Air Force, 331 Squadron, Post Humous

For his courage, grit and determination in taking the fight to the enemy. This excellent officer lead his flight of fighters escorting swarms of IL2's into the jaws of the luftwaffe with skill, dedication and with the upmost duty and care with each and every mission putting the lives of our attack pilots before his own. He succesfully flew 9 such combat missions returning with 7 confirmed kills and several probables and saving the lives and aircraft of our attack units. It is a sad day for the VVS with the fall of this aviator, Squadron Leader Mram who during his 10th such escort mission on 22nd November 1942 at approx 07:45hrs fell in combat with Bf109s. Yet again despite the overwhelming number of enemy fighters he did his duty and protected the vulnerable IL2s.

It was sad to see him crash in a fight to the death, right infront of us. A brave man who put the life of others above himself.

    His actions were legendary!
